Multi-tenant management: multiple customers, strictly separated data.

The multi-tenant module sets up a separate database for every customer, site, or subsidiary. With its own services, its own scan definitions, and its own LOGINventory license. Data from different tenants can’t mix, because it’s structurally separated. That’s what makes this genuine multi-tenant management: a data leak between tenants is architecturally excluded.

Architecturally separated

A dedicated database per tenant. No shared tables. Backup, replication, and restore are controllable separately per tenant.

Data directory

A dedicated directory for .inv files. Access rights enforceable at the file system level.

Windows services

A dedicated Inventory Service and Automation Service per tenant. Stopping one tenant doesn’t affect any other.

License

A dedicated LOGINventory license per tenant. Service provider license with monthly billing optional.

Discovery scenarios

Which option fits depends on whether and how you can access the tenant network. None of the options require installing an agent on the tenant’s endpoint devices. All data ends up in the respective tenant database at the service provider.

VPN into the tenant network: Management Center starts in the tenant context, scan agentlessly as usual. Suitable when permanent VPN connections to all customers already exist.

On-site visit with a laptop: a full installation on the service laptop writes directly to the tenant database, or the collected .inv files are copied to the central data directory after you return.

Standalone Remote Scanner + Offline Agent: installed on a single Windows device at the tenant. The scanner discovers locally, the Offline Agent transfers the data encrypted via HTTPS to the central instance: no VPN, no TeamViewer, no RDP. Suitable for tenants without permanent network access to the service provider.

Which path you choose is decided by your network situation. Not the software. LOGINventory adapts to the infrastructure you already have.

The multi-tenant management module is a surcharge on the standard LOGINventory license. Every tenant needs its own license based on asset count: service providers typically bill monthly.

When you don’t need it

Multi-site ≠ multi-tenant.

If you’re managing a single company with multiple sites and no organizational separation, the standard setup with the Standalone Remote Scanner is enough. You don’t need the multi-tenant module.

Multi-tenancy pays off once data has to stay completely separated: different customers of a service provider, separate subsidiaries, multiple critical infrastructure mandates.
