What’s the difference between the editions?
Complete IT inventory
- Discovery of hardware, software, and network. Agentless by default, via logon script or Offline Agent where there’s no direct access
- Topology diagram, diff reports, multi-tenancy
- REST API + JSON interfaces, AI integration (LIA)
- Add-on assets (peripherals, manually added items)
- Reports for compliance evidence (NIS2, ISO 27001 Annex A)
Inventory + software asset management
Everything in the Inventory edition, plus:
- Management of products and licenses
- Target vs. actual license comparison per vendor
- Detection of unused software (compliance & cost optimization)
- Reminders for expiring licenses and contracts
- Audit reports for Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, Oracle
- License pool management with usage forecasting
SAM customers uncover 20–30% of unused license costs on average. The edition typically pays for itself within the first audit cycle.

Common questions before you order.
What counts as an “asset”?
Every device that’s successfully discovered: client, server, VM, network printer, switch. You decide which devices get discovered. License requirement = devices actually discovered. Add-on assets are manually added peripherals and items (headset, monitor, key, chair, and so on).
Are smartphones and tablets assets or add-on assets?
Assets. They’re discovered automatically and count the same as clients and servers. Add-on assets are exclusively devices and items you add by hand: monitors, docking stations, headsets, keyboards, but also chairs, keys, or tools.
How do I determine the right asset count?
The most reliable way is to run a scan. The trial license runs for 30 days at your full network size, so afterward the number is fixed instead of estimated. For a rough estimate beforehand, count everything with an IP address that can be discovered automatically: clients, servers, virtual machines, printers, switches, smartphones. Monitors, Exchange mailboxes, and Active Directory accounts don’t count.
What happens if I discover more assets than I’ve licensed?
The scan keeps running, nothing gets blocked. Devices over the licensed count land in the Unlicensed assets query: you’ll see the device name there, but no details on operating system, hardware, or software. With a license for 250 assets and 251 discovered devices, that affects exactly the one scanned last. As soon as you add more licenses, the details are there, without a new scan.
Can I expand or reduce later?
Yes. You can expand your license anytime in increments of 25 (assets) or 100 (add-ons). Reducing is possible at renewal. When you switch between Inventory and SAM, all inventory data is preserved. Only the license key changes.
Are volume discounts possible beyond the standard tiers?
From 5,000 assets or 20,000 add-ons, we work out individual terms. Typical cases are group-wide framework contracts, MSP white-label licenses, or special situations like government procurement. Just tell us what you need.
The contractual details on licensing and software maintenance are in the license terms.
