How it works

From label to documented handout: the scan opens the asset’s handout page in the browser, no app required. Choose issue, sign with your finger. The lifecycle entry is in the database with a timestamp.

Every peripheral device gets a unique inventory number. LOGINventory generates print-ready QR code labels in two standard sizes. 13×25 mm for small peripherals like headsets, 25×54 mm for computers, monitors, network devices. Labels can be customized with your company branding.

At handout, the employee scans the QR code with their smartphone. The web interface opens directly on the asset detail page, lifecycle tab. The recipient selects “Issue,” adds a note, and signs with a finger. Return follows the same process in reverse. From LOGINventory 9.6, a photo function is available too, as proof of condition.

Configure the permission model before rollout: only power users or administrators can create lifecycle entries. Otherwise any domain user can create handouts.

Licensing

When it pays off

Does peripheral inventory need a separate license?

Yes. Managing add-on assets (IT peripherals and accessories) runs through a separate license module that extends the Inventory or SAM edition and can’t be used standalone.

Can IT peripherals be assigned to users?

Yes. The documented handout and return by smartphone creates a lifecycle entry linking user and device. That way it’s always visible who was handed which device and when, and whether it’s been returned. This prevents inventory shrinkage.

Do you need an app for the smartphone handout?

No. Scanning the QR code opens a web page on smartphone or tablet. You define who’s allowed to document handouts in the permission model.

What label size is recommended?

A label printer that can print small labels, so even small peripherals like USB drives can be labeled. LOGINventory ships two standard sizes: 13×25 mm and 25×54 mm.
