LOGINventory Version 2026.1.4

Version 2026.1.4
Release Oct 5, 2026
Build 9.11.4.21574

Build 9.11.4.21574 (Published October 13, 2026):

  • vSphere: Running VMs without active VMware Tools now get the status “Running” instead of “Stopped” during discovery. The status now comes from the VM’s power state rather than from the state reported by VMware Tools.
  • LIA (AI Assistant): Searching the documentation and the data model now also works when the Management Center is started via a UNC path, e.g. the portable version directly from a network share.
  • License management: As long as no products have been created, the node shows the information page instead of an empty data view.

Build 9.11.4.21251 (Published October 5, 2026):

  • New Analyze shares: In Settings, under User roles, there is a new overview of all roles assigned on nodes.
    • It shows which users and groups have which role on which nodes. Conversely, you can see which accounts are entered on a node.
    • All stored accounts are checked against Active Directory. Disabled, expired, deleted, or unresolvable accounts are highlighted in color. Groups can be resolved into their members.
    • Shares can be edited for multiple nodes at once: remove accounts from all nodes, replace them with another account, or change the role of selected assignments.
    • The overview can be exported as a CSV file.
  • Breaking Change Role inheritance for shares on nodes:
    • On a node, the role of the nearest share now applies. The search runs upward from the node. The first share with an explicitly set role for the user or one of their groups determines the role.
    • Previously, the highest role the user had on the node or on any node above it applied. A share on a subnode could therefore only extend the role.
    • Now a share on a subnode can also restrict the inherited role. If a subnode has a lower role than a node further up, the lower role applies there as of this version.
    • If a user is entered on the same node through several groups, the highest of these roles applies. Global administrators are never restricted by shares.
    • The role evaluation is now reliable even when disabled or unresolvable accounts are entered on parent nodes.
    • After the update, please review your shares, most easily with the new function Analyze shares. Details in the documentation chapter Authorization concept.
  • Failed logon attempts and user list:
    • Failed logon attempts using an account name that does not exist are no longer recorded as a user logon (UserLogon). This applies, for example, to typos or a password accidentally entered in the user field (event 4625 with SubStatus 0xC0000064). Such names therefore no longer end up in the user list either. Instead, these attempts are counted per device in the events (Events) under event ID 4625.
    • Data maintenance “Orphaned user data”: Users known only from failed logon attempts are removed together with those attempts. This also cleans up such entries from earlier discovery runs. Local accounts found when scanning a device are kept.
    • New switch //UserLogonEntries: It sets how many of the newest user logons are read from the event log per discovery (default: 250).
    • Web Viewer: Several selection lists now offer only relevant people. This applies to Hand Out / Return, the user search, the Asset Editor, and the Owner property. The lists offer user accounts (Active Directory, Entra ID, or created manually), owners of non-archived devices, and people from lifecycle entries. Local accounts and service accounts no longer appear there (e.g. in the handover process for devices).
  • Exchange Server:
    • Discovery of large on-prem environments is significantly faster and more reliable.
    • Discoveries run with /Debug or /Test no longer occasionally end with exit code 20499 even though the discovery was successful.
  • Linux / macOS discovery:
    • New VM guests on KVM/libvirt hosts: Discovery of virtual machines now works not only on Proxmox, but on all KVM hosts with virsh (e.g. Ubuntu with libvirt). Among other things, the following are collected:
      • Name, UUID, and status
      • CPU topology and RAM
      • MAC and IP address
      • Number of snapshots
      • the guest’s operating system (via the qemu Guest Agent)
    • Offline Agent: The inv files are again uploaded via Basic Authentication by cron (Linux) or launchd (macOS), as described in the documentation. As a result, error 401 no longer occurs when IIS also offers Negotiate. Basic Authentication must be enabled in IIS for the upload.
    • Usernames in user logons (UserLogon) and device usage (DeviceUsage) are no longer truncated to 8 characters.
  • SNMP:
    • Devices that actively reject SNMPv2c instead of not responding (e.g. a few UPS models) are now discovered automatically via SNMPv1.
    • Switches: The speed of ports of 10 Gbit/s and higher and of LAGs is now detected correctly.
    • Switches: TeamInterfaceIndex stays empty instead of 0 for ports without link aggregation. As a result, these ports are no longer counted as trunk members. Existing values are updated the next time the switch is discovered.
  • LIA (AI Assistant): AI-assisted query creation now also works when the Management Center in the portable version is started from a read-only network share.
  • Portable version: Users without administrator rights (e.g. on terminal servers or under Citrix) no longer get a UAC credentials prompt at startup. The ngen optimization is only attempted if the user has local administrator rights.
