IT asset management

IT asset management software for the mid-market.

LOGINventory manages your IT assets across the entire lifecycle: discover them agentlessly, document the network, reconcile licenses, detect vulnerabilities, track peripherals by QR code. From the purchase order through handout to decommissioning, every piece of information lives in one place.

Lifecycle

An asset’s life starts before the first scan and doesn’t end at decommissioning.

Most tools only know a device once it shows up on the network, and forget it the moment it disappears. LOGINventory tracks it through all five phases, in a relational database where every phase can be analyzed.

PHASE 1

Planning

What’s oldest, where does the warranty run out, which hardware can run Windows 11? The current inventory answers the procurement question before it’s asked.

PHASE 2

Procurement & pre-staging

Devices can be created before they arrive: manually or via REST API from the ordering system, with model, serial number, purchase price. At the first real scan, LOGINventory recognizes the device by its fingerprint and merges the two records.

PHASE 3

Operation

Scheduled scans keep the inventory current, email alerts report changes on the network. Lifecycle entries log what happened to the device: repair, backup check, handover.

PHASE 4

Support

Maintenance contracts, invoices, and expiry dates are attached to the asset. LOGINventory pulls warranty data from many manufacturers itself. Tickets flow back as lifecycle entries through the REST API. That shows you which devices cause more trouble than others.

PHASE 5

Decommissioning

LOGINventory flags devices that haven’t been seen in a while on its own. Archived assets stay viewable with their full history; if a device is deleted in a third-party system, the API can archive it here automatically.

WHAT CHANGED, AND WHEN

The change history

Every asset keeps a record of what changed and when. During troubleshooting, that’s often the fastest answer: what was installed or reconfigured last?

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP

Handout & Return

Every device gets a QR label. Scan it, and you land directly on that asset’s handout and return screen. No searching through lists, no retyping serial numbers, not even at the storage shelf or in the server room.

The handover is confirmed digitally, with a signature on the recipient’s device. What was handed over, when, to whom and in what condition is on record, not in a spreadsheet in the front office.

  • Even for things without a network connection. Monitors, headsets, docking stations, keys, tools.
  • At onboarding and offboarding. What someone received is a list at departure, not a reconstruction.
  • Across department lines. Helpdesk, reception, and warehouse work from the same data.

Cost efficiency

Where the money actually is.

The biggest line item in IT asset management is rarely the software. It’s hiding in devices nobody knows the location of, and in purchases made at the wrong time.

What LOGINventory costs for your asset count, you can work out yourself in a minute. What it saves depends on how many of the following levers apply to you.

THE LEVERS
  • No device goes missing. When it’s on record for every asset who has it and since when, nobody just walks off with something anymore. Full transparency over your inventory, including the part that never shows up on the network.
  • Investment needs become predictable. LOGINventory knows the age and warranty status of every device, so it knows when what needs replacing. The budget for the coming years is set before budget planning, not after.
  • Procurement at the right time. Anyone who knows the current state doesn’t buy too early, and doesn’t pay emergency prices after a failure.
  • Fewer variants in your inventory. Three tools for the same job in three departments only stand out once someone sees all three. Fewer variants means less onboarding, less support, fewer special cases.
  • Shorter helpdesk times. If you can already see what’s running on a device and when it last changed as soon as the ticket comes in, you skip the follow-up question.
  • Licenses you already have. Over- and under-licensing become visible, and licenses freed up from decommissioned devices go back into the pool. That’s a side effect in asset management, and the most expensive line item in an audit. Gartner puts software spend 20 to 30 percent lower for organizations with mature IT asset management.
Compliance

What NIS2 requires from asset management.

The BSI lists the asset management requirements individually. Five of them directly define what an inventory has to deliver:

NIS2 compliance in detail →
  • BSI-5 Capture the asset inventory and define the process for it
  • BSI-6 Assign an owner per asset
  • BSI-7 Create usage instructions for assets
  • BSI-8 Log handout and return
  • BSI-12 Define the process for asset transfer and removal

Frequently asked questions

IT asset management software: frequently asked questions.

What is IT asset management software?

Software that captures and manages all IT assets across the entire lifecycle (the IT asset lifecycle), known as ITAM for short: inventory hardware and software agentlessly, document the network, reconcile licenses, and detect vulnerabilities. From purchase order to decommissioning, every piece of information lives in one place.

What’s the difference between IT asset management and enterprise asset management (EAM)?

IT asset management focuses on hardware and software. Enterprise asset management (EAM) also covers non-IT assets such as vehicles, furniture, or keys. LOGINventory combines both models.

Where is the data stored? Is the solution GDPR-compliant?

LOGINventory is installed locally in your network (an on-premises database). No data is transmitted to us, your data stays entirely under your control.

Is there a free version?

Yes. You can trial LOGINventory for 30 days at your full network size. It’s free forever (Forever-Free) for up to 20 assets.
